Managing complexity: local government is the art of dealing with complexity In this TED talk ecologist Eric Bercow shows how complex systems can be simply mapped out  (in 3 minutes). As the great American Jurist Oliver Wendell Holmes said “I could not give a fig for the simplicity this side of compexity, but i would give my life for the simplicity on the other side of complexity.”

Pulling up the ladder. How we care for the elderly is an increasingly pressing issue for local government and one which the LGiU is just launching some research on). This article from the New Yorker looks at how the politics of this are playing out on the other side of the Atlantic. A sign of things to come?
