We’re out for the count: the full run down on the elections

It’s polling day at last.

We’re covering the local elections on our live blog here.  We’re pretty much always the first and the fastest with elections results, we’ll be with you through tonight and tomorrow with results and analysis.

Crowdsourcing returns

We’re also doing something a little different this year. We’re building an open dataset of ALL local elections returns. And we need your help to do it. When the results start rolling in go here and help us by reporting results from top line political control to ward level vote counts. It’s really simple to do.  With just a little bit of your time (and a little bit of time from a lot of other people) we hope to have the complete results by Monday!!

Our partners Democracy Club have already built the first all-local elections searchable candidates database WhoCanIVoteFor.co.uk with the help of volunteers like you, so we know it can be done.

Election stories

Don’t forget to follow @LGiU on Twitter and share your elections stories using the hashtags #outforthecount and #LE2016. We’ve got more info about how you can be a great Count Correspondent here.

And if you want to find out more about this project and why it’s so important check out our project page.
