Welcome to the new website!
We’ve been speaking to our LGiU members and followers in Ireland and the UK about what you need from us and what we could do better. Over the next year, you’ll be seeing lots of ways that you can tailor what you get from us to make membership even more informative and valuable to your work.
The big changes
The biggest change is that we’ve brought all three of our websites into one. Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales are all served by LGiU. We know that local issues really matter, so we’re still bringing you all the relevant national and regional policy expertise you’ve come to rely on. But where we think that local stories matter globally, it’s easier to share news, insights and good practice to local government practitioners and elected members.

Signing up to the website means that you’ll be able to access content and change your website and mail preferences. You can hear from us as often as you like. Make sure you’re signed up to our recommended package and shape your own personal MyLGiU page with the information that matters the most to you, including your country of membership.
Membership has its privileges, but so does Following
For the first time, we’re letting people who aren’t members of LGiU to sign up on our website. You won’t be able to access our Member only briefings or Daily News, but you can get access to most of our publications, some select briefings and your own MyLGiU page that reflects your interests and information needs. You can change your preferences at any time
You’ll also be able to sign up to our weekly newsletter with highlights of local government news and views. So make sure you sign up to our recommended package for LGiU Followers.
What’s next?
We’re looking at more ways that we can support members to get timely information in digestible chunks. We’re developing new ways to involve members in content commissioning and looking at new products to help you do what you do better. Signing up to the website means you’ll be kept informed and can feed into our latest developments.
