UPDATE: Local council elections 2010: National swing to Tories not being matched in local elections – so far

The Conservatives haven’t performed as strongly in Labour targets as had been expected. The same seems to be true in Lib Dem targets. The Lib Dems have held Sutton with 43 seats to 11 for the Conservatives. The momentum was with the Tories here. And now Brentwood and North Tyneside have become the third and fourth councils to move from Conservative to NOC. The mismatch between the national and local swing is suprising to say the least. Is it just down to higher turn out?
