Thank you for using the LGIU’s website. Like all websites ours has some terms of use, which are set out here. These terms of use relate specifically to this website and creating and using website accounts. There is a separate Memorandum & Articles for LGIU member organisations, which cover terms of membership.
By using the website we take it that you agree to these terms of use.
Who can use the LGIU website?
Anyone is free to browse on our website and there is some content that is immediately accessible. A lot of content does require you to register on the site and create an account with us before you can read it.
Registration
There is no charge to set up an account on the website. There are two levels of account.
Member account: If you are an employee or councillor with an organisation that pays for LGIU membership then you can create a member account and gain access to all the content on the LGIU website.
Follower account: If you are not connected with an organisation that pays for LGIU membership then you can create a follower account. This will allow you to access a certain amount of restricted content such as publications but will not allow you to view exclusive member content including most policy briefings.
Your login details
You must keep your login details, including password secure. Setting up an account on the website is easy and free, so please do not share your individual login details with anyone, rather you can encourage them to create their own.
Changing account restrictions or termination of account
If you have a member account but the LGIU member organisation to which you are connected ceases to be an LGIU member then we will switch your website account to follower and you will no longer be able to read member only content.
If you have a member account but then leave the organisation which is an LGIU member, you must inform the LGIU and we will switch your website account to follower.
We reserve the right to change restrictions for an account or close down any website account without warning, though we will try to give account holders all possible notice.
If you wish to close down your website account then please notify us and we will delete the account.
