It’s #CityHallSelfie day in the USA. Our friends at ELGL – Engaging Local Government Leaders – run an annual event celebrating local government love.
Celebrated by those beyond the immediate local government family, #CityHallSelfie day is a way for people to show a bit of civic pride.
Kirsten Wyatt of ELGL told Bloomberg Cities that:
One of our goals is to encourage joy in public service, and the #CityHallSelfie really embodies that. It’s a small thing anyone can do, it doesn’t cost any money, and it’s a great way to show love and pride for local service.
These days we all know that local government could use a bit of love. From the financial squeeze to Brexit preparations, local government has plenty on its plate. But there’s always a few seconds to step outside and show your municipal pride. Local governments in the US even invite their citizens to get in on the act.
If you can’t manage a #CityHallSelfie today, drop us a #municipelfie and join in our #TownHalliday competition.
You also have a chance to find out more about ELGL when they visit London next month with an event on inclusive leadership.
In the meantime – enjoy:
