Raingain project

Bookmark

Today in Paris is the launch of Raingain. Raingain is a project funded by the EU to provide local authorities with rapid warning of flooding from heavy rain. The LGiU is working in partnership with the Met Office, Imperial College and partners in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Through our Local Government Flood Forum we will be communicating good practice. The aim of Raingain is to make it possible for an urban authority to observe rain storms, predict the impacts and warn the residents in 30 minutes. Current technology takes 2 days!

In order to get the most out of the project we would like to work more closely with local authorities who would be interested in testing the technology and we need feedback from all local authorities to make sure the tools are useful.
