Preview of tonight’s C’llr Awards

Preview of tonight's C'llr AwardsHere at the LGiU we’re all getting rather excited about this evening’s presentation of the C’llr Achievement Awards 2011. The event is being held at WestminsterCity  Hall and speakers include Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Caroline Flint MP, Cllr Colin Barrow, Leader of Westminster City Council and Andy Sawford, LGiU Chief Executive.

What has been really warming to see is the coverage the awards are receiving in the local media and the positive comments that have appeared on our blog since the shortlist was announced. I’m drawing attention to these not to glorify the LGiU, but to underline the purpose of the C’llr Achievement Awards – that of celebrating the dedicated effort that councillors put in throughout the year to strengthen local democracy and help improve the lives of citizens.
