The Rt Hon Paul Burstow MP, LGiU and Mears Group today announce the launch of a new commission to investigate workforce development in the home care sector.
As more people need care in their own homes and as we face a shortage in care workers, we need to take a fresh look at the way we commission and deliver home care. The Commission on the Future of the Home Care Workforce, chaired by Paul Burstow MP, has opened its call for evidence and seeks information and views from local authorities, government departments, professional bodies and unions, service providers, service users and their representative bodies and individuals with a stake in improving workforce matters.
The Commission will hold a series of oral hearings over the summer and will produce clear recommendations for ensuring a high quality home care workforce in Autumn 2014.
