LGIU LAUNCHES C’LLR AWARDS 2016

Nominations now open to recognise local government heroes

The Local Government Information Unit (LGiU)’s annual C’llr Achievement Awards are back again for a seventh year and set to be the biggest yet.

The LGiU announces today that this year’s ceremony will take place on Tuesday 1st November (6.30-9.30pm) against the backdrop of the Guildhall’s Livery Hall. New categories include Lifetime Achievement and County, District, Parish and Metropolitan Councillor of the Year alongside the coveted Leader of the Year and Young Councillor of the Year awards. The C’llr Awards brings together over 200 councillors from across the UK to celebrate their achievements and network with others across the sector.

Nominations are now officially open until 22nd August with the shortlist due to be unveiled in October. The winners will be decided by our panel of judges and announced on the night.

This year’s awards are possible thanks to the generous support of our founding sponsors CCLA, who are partnering with us for the 6th year in a row. Other sponsors include Local Trust and NALC.

Jonathan Carr-West, Chief Executive of LGiU, said: “In its sixth year, LGiU’s C’llr Awards are the opportunity to honour the extraordinary achievements of councillors across the country, work that often goes unrecognised. We’re looking forward to receiving hundreds of nominations and showcasing the incredible stories of local government heroes.”
