On Thursday 2nd May, local elections will occur in 27 county councils and six unitary councils in England and one Welsh council. There will also be two mayoral elections in Doncaster and North Tyneside.

LGiU will be providing live coverage of the election outcomes. Last year this worked really well and we provided updates faster than the BBC.

This year the LGiU team will be joined by Anthony Zacharzewski from DemSoc, Jonathan Werran from the MJ and Lewis Baston, guest psephologist. Together, we will be providing insight and analysis of the latest election results – and we’re aiming to do this quicker than any other news outlet.

We will also be working with a network of Count Correspondents from across the country who will be informing us of news from across the counties. If you would be interested in becoming a Count Correspondent, please email lizzie.greenhalgh@lgiu.org.

To stay in the loop, make sure you subscribe to our blog as we will be posting updates and commentary about the local elections. We will also be providing an hourly email update. If you would like to register to receive these updates, please click here.

We will be tweeting regularly from @LGiU – make sure you follow us to stay in the loop. Tweet your updates @LGiU and we will retweet.
