The summer is definitely coming to an end – the tans are fading and the kids are dawdling back to school. We thought you might like a quick overview of what is on the LGiU’s agenda for the coming autumn.
Over the next few months we are focusing on what it takes to help make stronger communities, stronger services and stronger local democracy. Working with our extensive network of local authorities, voluntary sector organisations, community groups and others, our autumn programme will include:
- Creating resilient communities with local democracy providing the foundation of their strength. Projects include: #spacerace; project resilience – the next step; assets of community value – protecting community pubs with CAMRA
- Strengthening adult social care services – projects include: what local authorities can do to make their services more resilient in the event of provider failure – with our partner ADASS; one year on from the Key to Care report.
- Stronger local democracy – making devolution work for all, projects include: our party conference fringe and dinner programme and members-only Policy Network events.
You can keep up to date with our work this autumn on our website. If you would like to know more about any of our projects or are interested in working with us please contact Lauren Lucas, head of projects; and if you would like to learn more about LGiU membership please contact Chris Naylor.
