Following last week’s Police and Crime Commissioner elections, the LGiU has produced this handy guide for local authorities and others who are interested in the role of the PCCs and the implications for councils.
The guide brings together an edited version of a series of briefings written by James Cousins, a LGiU associate, on the run up to the PCC elections and brings them up to date with comments on the elections themselves.
The guide provides a background to the evolution of PCCs, the legislative framework, the elections, and the implications for local government.
The guide should be useful for councillors, officers and partners across all tiers of local government who will be working with PCCs and Police and Crime Panels directly and indirectly.
