The city is launching a mobility service with autonomous minibuses that can be summoned via app, as part of a target for 80% of all journeys to be made by public or active transport by 2030. The city’s transport operator is rolling out improvements beyond existing rail and bus networks: Self-driving electric minibuses. The city is set to launch 20 autonomous shuttles next year, which will provide free on-demand rides across up to 20 square miles. The larger vision is to expand the fleet to up to 10,000 vehicles by 2030.
