Going for growth: The CCLA Local Growth Achievement Award

In straitened economic times local government can provide a vital boost to economic prosperity for hard hit communities.

Many councillors work tirelessly with local people, businesses, and the rest of the public sector, tapping into whatever resources are available, in order to create opportunities for their communities to thrive.

This is a particularly challenging task as councils’ budgets are facing unprecedented strain. Helping to stimulate growth and creating the means for citizens to take greater control of their lives is, therefore, a significant achievement.

The CCLA Local Growth Achievement Award has been set up in order to recognise and celebrate these outstanding, dedicated councillors.

The award will go to a councillor who has successfully built networks and relationships across the private, public and third sectors, demonstrated a clear vision of the wider social benefits of economic growth, and acted as a figurehead, providing leadership and guidance for their community.

The Cllr Awards are the only national awards that celebrate councillors. If you know a councillor whose commitment and drive deserve recognition, then nominate them for this year’s awards!

The deadline for nominations is January 23rd.
