LGiU is working in partnership with social care provider Mears to deliver a series of roundtables as part of our Adult Social Care Thought Leader Series. Each roundtable focuses on different aspects of commissioning. The goals of the network are to share best practice, and discuss how we can achieve tangible change to commissioning in the context of considerable financial pressure. To date we have delivered four roundtables, on market management, monitoring and evaluation, personalisation, and integration.
This roundtable is the fifth event in the series and looks at workforce issues in adult social care. We will begin the roundtable hearing from two speakers: Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for Adults and Helga Pile, UNISON National Officer for Social Workers.
Discussion questions
- What does a high quality care workforce look like and how can we achieve it? What are the barriers?
- What form of contract will best achieve a high quality workforce?
- What type of commissioning will result in a high quality workforce?
- What sort of skills do we expect from a high quality workforce?
