Webinar: Professional & Community Development through Intentional Networks

Bookmark

Description:

In this webinar we are going to look at ‘Intentional Networks’ and how they can be created online to achieve an agreed outcome, and particularly in this webinar a learning outcome.   This is particularly pertinent for those in local government, community and health professions where the exchange of information is vital.  It is also very relevant for community groups.

We have often heard the term ‘intentional communities’, that is people living together with some shared resources on the basis of explicit common values.  Some examples include: ecovillagescohousing, land trusts, income-sharing communes, student co-ops, spiritual communities, and more.

Yet people today live as much online as they do in face-to-face communities and this has led to the idea of intentional networks – networks that exist not just to build personal relationships but exist to bring people together to achieve a specific outcome such as communities of practice, intentional networks, (professional) learning communities, reflective practice, action learning and involves peer-to-peer (p2p) engagement.

And it is a much broader term than what we have traditional known as intentional communities. Not only does it bring people together globally to pursue some of the goals of intentional communities above but networks also develop to bring diverse groups together in dialogue or for example professionals together to discuss good practice.
