Evidence shows the key drivers of acute food insecurity in Scotland are income crises rather than a lack of food. Until we tackle the underlying causes of income crises, the need for emergency food aid in Scotland is likely to continue to grow.
What does this mean for the community food sector?
What is the role of community food initiatives in the response to food insecurity?
Is there a place for the sector in tackling the root causes?
This event invites everyone involved and interested in the response to food insecurity in Midlothian to consider the ways community food initiatives can work with a range of partners and advice services to support people to access the cash, rights and food they are entitled to in a crisis.
The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided afterwards.
Please email us at info@menuforchange.org.uk if you have any specific dietary or access requirements.
Please register before 22nd August 2018.
