Local Government Summer Reception

This session is open exclusively to LGIU members. Not a member but interested in the reception? Reach out to us to explore how we can work with your organisation!

Join the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) and County Councils Network (CCN) in Westminster on the evening of the State Opening of Parliament. This is an early opportunity for the local government community to meet and mingle with the new cohort of parliamentarians and hear about what the King’s Speech, the next Government, and the new Parliament could mean for the sector.

The 2024 Local Government Summer Reception will take place at The Conrad London St. James from 18:00 – 20:00 on Wednesday 17 July. Limited spaces are available for this complimentary event for councillors, senior officers, stakeholders and parliamentarians so please RSVP as soon as possible to secure your place.

We will be inviting the next Secretary of State for Levelling up, Housing and Communities to say a few words on the night.

We will also be joined by LGIU Chief Executive (Jonathan Carr-West), CCN Chair (Cllr Tim Oliver), and CCN Chief Executive (Simon Edwards) along with other invited speakers and guests. They will outline the important role local government has to play in helping to deliver the next Government’s agenda and the urgent reforms needed to ensure that there is effective and sustainable local government going forward.
