Angus Council has 6 women councillors out of 28. That’s a mere 21%, when women are 51% of the population.
For International Women’s Day 2019, we have all come together to throw open the doors of the Town and County Hall to any woman wishing to find out more about how local democracy works, what it’s like to be a woman councillor in a patriarchal structure and what we can do to shift the balance.
We’ll introduce you to the Chamber, have a chat around the table and answer any questions you may have.
Whether it’s about voting yourself, encouraging more women to vote, finding out how decisions are made, or how to get more involved in politics to address your values and vision for Angus and Scotland, we’ll be honest and open about our own experiences.
Please note, this is not a political party event or badged by any campaign group. It’s free to women interested in finding out more about local democracy.
