Developing an education and skills system that meets the needs of Scotland over the coming years is one of the biggest challenges faced by the Scottish government, and the government is in the midst of reform on schools and skills reform.
Over the last year, IPPR Scotland worked with the JP Morgan Foundation, through the New Skills at Work Programme, to conduct a series of reports and events examining the challenges and opportunities facing in the skills system in Scotland.
As part of the programme, in June 2016, IPPR Scotland published a report Jobs and Skills in Scotland looking at the economy and labour market in Scotland from the skills perspective. Over the next month, we will publish a follow-up report outlining key solutions to the challenges facing Scotland’s skills system to ready it for the world of work of 2030.
This keynote event will outline the Scottish government’s perspective on the future of the skills and education system in Scotland at a crucial time and will be an opportunity to question and hear directly from John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills.
