Community Pub Summit – Liverpool

Bookmark

Pubs bring huge economic and social value to many communities, yet they are under threat from redevelopment and demolition. LGiU has been working with CAMRA to investigate how local government can help, and we’d like you to take part.

Councils can play a big part in helping to protect them and through proposed extension of powers in Community Rights legislation they will begin will have increased capacity to do so.

The LGiU-CAMRA Community Pubs Summit will bring together stakeholders from across the region to discuss the challenges faced by community pubs locally and to investigate how councils and communities can work together to address them.

The discussion will focus particularly on:

  • How local planning policies, Assets of Community Value, and other tools, can be most effectively deployed
  • What guidance and support councils and communities need from central government
  • Key barriers to further action to protect pubs in the area
  • What further guidance and support councils need from central government to make best use of their current powers.

The event is free to attend, but places are limited. Please contact Andrew Walker at andrew.walker@lgiu.org if you are interested in attending.
