Closer Connections: Community Planning and Spatial Planning

Bookmark

Local Outcome Improvement Plans, Locality Plans, Local Development Plans and Local Place Plans – how do we link them all up?

Both the Community Empowerment Act and the recent Planning Bill focus on empowering communities to have more influence. Both also establish and promote the contribution of closer links between Community Planning and spatial planning in achieving this shared objective.

What will this mean for the public sector in the years ahead? What is already happening to ensure we work in collaboration with communities and delivering outcomes?

This event will share experience to date on meeting this joint challenge and consider what we can be doing to measure success.

Four Councils will share their experience of how they are:

  • collaborating on putting long term public interest central to the spatial planning and community planning process;
  • representing in spatial terms agreed priorities identified in LOIPs and Locality Plans in the Local Development Plan process;
  • achieving more collaborative working around Place (if this has been formalised through joint attendance on any groups or within any governance arrangements) to move away form silo working and reduce consultation fatigue.
  • representing in spatial terms agreed priorities identified in LOIPs and Locality Plans in the impending introduction of Local Place Plans;
  • considering measures of success?
