Care Journeys – Positive Destinations for our Young People

As part of Barnardo’s Scotland’s celebration of the Year of Young People, we are delighted to invite you to attend a unique event focusing on young people’s experiences in the care system and beyond. The event will highlight the realities and issues that our young people face during their care journey.

Key aspects of young people’s care journeys will be highlighted through the extracts of Curious Monkey’s play leaving by Paddy Campbell which portrays first hand experiences of children and young people who have lived in care. The audience will hear the real voices of care experienced young people and those working within the system. The performance is supported by the Kavli Trust.

Following the performance we will provide the opportunity for the audience to explore the Scottish context with both panel discussion and multimedia presentations. Our panel includes: Kenny McGhee (Celcis), Sara Lurie (Fostering Network), Norma Corlette (STAF), Fiona Duncan (Care Review), Bruce Adamson (Children’s Commissioner), and Alicia Santana (Who Cares? Scotland Board Member and Care Experienced Young Person).

The event aims to provoke discussion and challenge the way people think about young people’s care journeys in order to improve the outcomes for our young people.
