The Localism Bill is the government’s flagship piece of legislation. It includes measures that will give councils a new Power of General Competence, establish new rights for communities to bid to run services, and revolutionise the planning system.
The LGiU and Stockport MBC are hosting a major regional event for councils to debate and share learning about the Localism Bill and prepare for their new responsibilities. Speakers include leading figures from local and central government, the voluntary sector and academia.
