Count down to local elections

Once again, LGiU will be covering the local elections bringing you up to the minute results on council control.

For years, we’ve been working with our Count Correspondents to help us publicise both the election results and the importance and excitement of our local democracy.

We’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly in terms of election coverage and though we’ve seen a marked improvement in the way that results are communicated there is still work to do to help citizens understand why their votes matter and by how much.

To help councils get election communications right we’ve developed a new free guide to help councils get comms right on the night and before and after the elections.

Guide to local elections communications 2018

As ever, we’re looking for people to help us capture results on the night and support our Out for the Count campaign to open up local government elections data.  Sign up here to help or just to stay informed about our elections efforts. Find out more about our elections work.

We’ll be publishing our Local Elections ‘ones to watch’ guide and much more in the lead up to 3 May – so you’ll want to stay informed.
