In a very short time, LGiU will be relaunching our website to make finding and receiving the information you need even easier.
Just as many councils are re-examining their digital offer as citizens’ relationship with technology changes and expectations rise – we did the same thing. We asked our members what they needed, applied some design thinking and decided to update our digital services to meet your needs and make your experience of LGiU more about your interests and how you want to stay informed and involved.
What’s changing
More than a fresh new look, we’re changing the way our website works to make it simpler to navigate and personalised to your information needs.
Once you sign in to the new website, you’ll be able to tailor it to best fit your role and interests. This will also inform which briefings and updates you’ll receive so that our content to you is streamlined and you’re in control of what we send you.
We’re also bringing together all three of our websites so that you can discover relevant best practice from LGiU Scotland and LGiU Ireland and around the world. But we know local knowledge matters, so you can still rely on us to send you the content that is most useful to you.
A better service for members and for those who aren’t yet members
At LGiU, we serve our members, but we serve the wider local government family, too. Our mission to support better local democracy. Our work to support local government and the services local people rely on doesn’t end with our membership. Our new website allows both members and non-members to sign-in and tailor their experience. It will make it much clearer what content is available for everyone and what’s just for members.
As soon as the new website is live, we’ll also be allowing non-members to sign up for LGiU This Week. These are our weekly and round-ups of all our big news, valuable insights for members and followers and our members-only briefings.
What’s not changing
LGiU’s great content of course! But we are making it more discoverable for our readers no matter what part of local government you work with.
Stay tuned!
If your organisation is a member of LGiU (and you can check here to find out) we’ll be letting you know when the new website goes live. If you’re not a member, catch us at @LGiU on Twitter, we’ll soon let you know as soon as we’ve launched.
