The Role of Local Government in Northern Ireland



In 2015, eleven new councils in Northern Ireland took the reigns of service delivery and representation to begin the process of moving to a new local government model, one that was different from those of the past and designed for the 21st Century. This briefing explores both this model and the history of local governance in Northern Ireland.
