Summary
This briefing outlines the report of the Commission on Improving Dignity in Care, set up by the NHS Confederation, Age UK and the Local Government Association. The report is out for consultation until 27 March. It covers issues of dignity for older people in hospitals and care homes and make recommendations for change to each sector. Readers are advised to read the detailed recommendations in the text which cover many more issues than the summary in the introduction. There are important messages for local authorities about building dignity into commissioning specifications.
