This briefing outlines the importance of biodiversity and explores what local government can do to protect it, defining what ‘mainstreaming biodiversity’ means. Additionally, national and international examples of ‘mainstreaming biodiversity’ are explored,  extracting ways in which issues of biodiversity are being integrated into local government policymaking. This topic may be of particular interest to planning and finance members and officers.
