On 30 October, the Independent Commission on Local Government Finance (“the Commission”) published its Interim Report. This briefing summarises its contents and comments on them. The report invites further submissions from interested parties. This briefing also describes reaction to the interim report in the media and from the Government.

This briefing will be particularly relevant to councillors and officers with an interest in local government finance. However, parts of it will also be of interest to anyone working in the policy areas it covers: housing, economic development, welfare, skills and training, troubled families, health and social care and revenue collection.
