Summary

There are 50,000 children in England in foster care at any point in time. Foster carers are selected by local government which assesses the children and funds the places. DfE has published a review of foster care. Proposals include: giving a greater voice in decision-making to the foster child; allowing foster carers to act more like parents; and improvements to the planning and commissioning of foster places.
