Summary
‘- The Government has recently published its official response to the House of Commons’ Communities and Local Government Select Committee’s report on European Regional Development Fund.
– While the Committee found that ERDF funding is highly valued by local authorities and other recipients it is not possible to conclude that it is making a significant impact.
– The report also concludes that while the Government has well managed the ERDF transfer from the Regional Development Agencies, the Committee were concerned that the lack of available ‘match funding’ remains a serious impediment.
– This briefing will be of interest to executive members, cabinet portfolio members and senior officers with responsibilities for regeneration and economic development.
