APPG on Local Government – Summer Reception 2023

Bookmark

On Tuesday evening (18th July) the APPG on Local Government held its Summer Reception on the Terrace at the House of Commons. The LGIU provides secretariat support to the APPG and we were delighted to help welcome some many guests from across local government, MPs and others.

It was a lovely setting at which to launch LGIU’s new report – Parking strategies and innovation. The report provides insights on local authority views and awareness of new developments in parking and the sector’s approach to parking strategies. Both the report and the Summer Reception were supported by RingGo.

During the evening, the Chair of the APPG, Chris Clarkson, MP spoke about the work of the APPG and introduced guest speaker Lee Rowley MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Local Government and Building Safety). We also heard from Peter Driscoll, Managing Director at RingGo who spoke about the new report and the potential opportunities of an open market in parking for local authorities. LGIU Chair, Cllr Michael Payne, rounded off the speeches talking about the work of the LGIU and our LGIU@40: For the future of local government campaign.

The weather was kind to us and the conversations were varied and lively. Thank you to everyone who was there for making it such an interesting and enjoyable local government evening!
