Abolition of LAA, elected mayors

LGiU Cheif Executive Andy Sawford has supported the scrapping of LAA in Public Finance but said that “It must be followed up with a real commitment to a new relationship between central government and councils, particularly around place-based budgeting”. He’s also commented on elected mayors in Regen and Renewal. He supported the new powers but said that “I’d like to see every area have access to these powers. Why should it be dependent on having an elected mayor?”
