A local democracy app?

Bookmark

The App Blog profiles the 20 new apps ‘riding the wave’ of location innovation.    They report that the ease with which developers can create location-based services by tying into datasets and APIs from Google, Facebook, Foursquare and others is driving a burst of activity around location and apps, principally around iPhone and Android.

It struck me that some of these apps have potential to strengthen local democracy. Ask Around is about local conversations, Screechfacilitates local voting, and Broadcastr is about local storytelling.

The LGiU is involved in developing an app that promotes local democracy.  We’d love to hear from you if you know about, or have ideas for, apps that promote stronger local democracy.
